APRIL 12: Our first day on Oahu. Early in the morning, Jenni and Tony went for a run/jog/walk around Kapiolani Park. Since it was Larry's (Tony's dad) first time to Hawai'i, Tony wanted to drive around the island and give him a taste of the local foods. First, we picked up Spam Musubi, fruit and bottled water from Times Market and then went to Sam Choy's for Breakfast and had Moco Locos. Jenni had a delicious Veggie Loco. (On our last day, we saw Sam Choy in the Honolulu Airport!)

Next, we went to Haleiwa on the Northshore to get huli-huli chicken after picking up a little tuna poke, tako poke and yogurt at Fujioka's. Our next stop was Aoki's Shave Ice. Jenni got the Volcano, with Passion Fruit, Banana and a splash of strawberry. Tony's friend Darci said locals go to Aoki's and tourists go to Matsumoto's for shave ice, so we went to Aoki's. Finally, we drove to Waimea Bay (where the surfing waves are 50 feet high in the winter). It was raining a bit, and the waves were about 5 inches, but we had a nice little picnic at Waimea Bay Beach Park. On the way back, we stopped at Rainbow's Drive In. Tony and Larry shared the mixed plate and Jenni had a mac salad. That nite, we were so stuffed, we all took a nap and skipped dinner. [NEXT]
